Physical Therapist Position Description

Part-time position; hours negotiable
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

Qualifications:

  • Current State Physical Therapy License, graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in Physical Therapy
  • Current BCLS (CPR) certification (to be completed on your own time)

Position Description:

  • Responsible for evaluating, planning, directing and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician
  • Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability
  • Assists patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities
  • Participates in operational aspects of the center and maintains performance improvement within the center
  • Upholds and delivers quality communication for effective treatment planning and delivery

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Observes and evaluates treatment effect; recommends change to physician as needed
  • Performs an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to therapy requested and provided, and reassessments per policy
  • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate
  • Demonstrates knowledge of physical therapy modalities
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.  Maintains cleanliness and safety.
  • Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team
  • Maintains clear, legible and complete records pertinent to personnel and operation of the center in accordance with current standards and policies
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
  • Consults other therapists and employees as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities
